announcement, interview, introducing, music, NEWS, SINGLE

What is your name?
Dakota

What is your genre of music?
Pop/R&B

Give us a little bio about you.
I started singing musical theater when I was very young, but at age nine I transitioned into singing in a rock band. I also have learned to play guitar, bass, drums, keys, ukulele, and timbales from being in different bands growing up. I’m constantly in rehearsals, writing in the studio, and being around other musicians. I am so passionate about music and how it can change lives. I want to have a huge impact on the music industry.

What made you go into music?
My parents introduced me to so many things growing up from soccer to painting to baking and of course, music. I really gravitated towards music. I remember asking my mom for drum lessons after seeing a band perform at an outdoor mall and I think that’s when my fascination and even obsession with performing started. I knew from that moment that I was going to be on stage.

Are you a signed?
I’m an independent artist.

You’re set to release your new single ‘All Dressed Up, tell us more about the single.
I’m super excited for it to come out! It’s a different vibe from my other two steering in a more pop direction.

What is the meaning behind ‘All Dressed Up’?
This song is about getting stood up for a date while you’re getting “all dressed up.” The storyline is an arc where at first, you’re bummed that you got stood up, but then you realize that you don’t need a man to go out with and you can just have fun with your friends. The song is super upbeat, fun, and great to dance to

Describe the track in two words.
Happy & Confident

What was the writing process like?
The idea for the song started with the chorus baseline. At the time I wrote this song, I was listening to a mix of funk and pop. My influences for this song ranged from Johnny Gill to Kim Petras.

What was the recording process like?
I wanted that underlying funkiness with the production, but with easy to sing catchy melodies that audiences can pick up with 1 listen.

Who did you work with on the Single?
Nate Lennox and Dean Dinning

Will we see an EP or Album this year?
You will have to see ?
